EPR is non force manual therapy which develops safe, cooperative horse-human relationships. Based on self correction, comfortable positioning, moving away from pain, the EPR approach initiates self corrective change. The practitioner notices the response of the horse, including these bodily responses and the horse's communication in the treatment plan.

EPR works with the whole body, with the horse as a whole. Range of motion, flexibility, strength and endurance all improve once the body can move more freely. Comfortable pain free movement in training and under saddle will improve attitude, behaviour, ability and performance.
Working holistically with the horse and rider as a
team, improves cooperative behaviour, understanding, movement and
riding ability, overall performance and sustainability of the horse-rider partnership.
“EPR provides a long acting release for horses.
EPR uses relaxation and positioning to affect the nervous system of the horse.
This allows for mobility and looseness, affecting muscle memory and benefiting mental focus.
Once the horse feels the position they look for it on their own and re-create a pain-free, supple state.”

EPR uses rapport building exercises, observation, palpation and movement to provide an overall health assessment.
EPR Techniques
Gentle positional release techniques, range of motion exercises and isometric resistance techniques are used to directly and indirectly adjust and mobilise specific areas of the body.
Global manual movements of the larger structures and small local movements access specific joint and muscle groups. Techniques can be active or passive, aiming to influence structural alignment,
posture, neuromuscular function, cardiovascular health, circulation, lymphatic flow and organ function.
EPR non force techniques are used for indirect structural adjustment, direct joint mobilistation and joint stabilisation, soft tissue repair, postural balance and postural re-education.
EPR can be used to prevent injuries and to aid in the treatment of injuries to muscles and joints; to aid neck, shoulder, back and leg problems; hoof problems and rehabilitation. Improve movement patterns and gait restrictions.
